1. Is he a good speaker? Why/why not?
I thought he was a pretty good speaker, he used good gestures, his voice was clear, easy to depict the message, and fluent through what he was saying.
2. What were his good characteristics as a speaker? His bad?
Good: Sent a clear message with a clear voice that was easy to understand and hear, used good gestures, and he flowed smoothly through the speech.
Bad: I thought he might have repeated some stuff a little to much and it got very dry and stale, probably could have found another way to also get the same point across.
3. How did he use his voice (vocal inflection) to make his speech more effective?
He had some good ham sandwich moments while he was asking the rhetorical questions. I thought he actually did a pretty good job of it through his entire speech. He did an excellent job of not staying at a monotone.
4. How did he use gestures to make his speech more effective?
He pointed to the audience while asking the questions to grab their attention more. He did little moves while pointing out the people to make it more interesting. He also used his gestures to seem like he was very into his subject and was passionate about it.
5. Why do you think they selected him as their keynote speaker? (Keynote speakers are the main speakers of a meeting, convention, etc.)
I think they selected this young man because he was very into this subject and that it would effect him in many ways in the future. He was going to be one of the children going through this so I believe he has the chance to speak what he is hoping will happen with it.
6. What was the main point of his message? Was it an important message? Why/why not?
I think that the main point of his message was to get people motivated for school and have the teachers realize that these children that are coming in will need their help. I feel that this message was a very important one, because it really will impact generations to come.
7. Do you think the teachers believed his message? Did it inspire them? Why/why not?

In 100-150 words, respond to the following:
What did you think of his message? If you were a teacher, would it have inspired you? Do not repeat any information that you used in the seven questions above.
I thought the message was very appropriate for this speech. It put the information out there that the children need help from their teachers, rather than just a seat in a room to learn. The message also gave the idea that teachers and school corporations really can make a difference in a child's life. If I were a teacher I think that this speech really would have inspired me to help them out any way that I could. This speech had a very powerful message that really does need to be carried out, because the children are simply asking for the teachers to care about them, and to treat them as they would any other kid at their school and to never doubt their abilities.

This is a pretty crazy drill! I've tried this before and it's pretty tough. You have to set up the kicking stands at the side of the goal posts and try to hit the goal post uprights. Not as easy as it sounds.
